As some of you may know, this idea of "buying locally and selling globally", started from a monthly flyer that I created a few years back, called The Garage Gold Mine. \nIt printed once a month to help my customers link together to buy & sell their used parts. \nOne day I purchased some goods myself... resold them and realized that this was for me!

I began a new career in the Harley Davidson Motorcycle industry in 1993, working for Dudley Perkins Co. (the world's oldest HD dealership) in San Francisco, CA.
| |
'96 ... I took a job as General Manager of a high performance, aftermarket shop in Burlingame, CA.
| |
'97 ... I managed a small business in Orange County, CA that produced high end billet products.
| |
'98 ... I performed as an outside sales rep for an aftermarket Distributor, Nempco, now Biker's Choice.\nMy territory was most of Northern California.
| |
'99 ... I was on my own... buying and selling HD parts... learning the market and what folks were looking for.\nMy garage was the starting point...
| |
'00 ... the realization that there was a need for second-hand parts kept me moving along with this plan. \nWorking for myself has always been what I wanted!
| |
'01 ... I decided to make my vision a "real" business.... with a "real" website.... to make it easier for customers to purchase these parts as efficiently as possible directly from my warehouse.
| |
'02 ... a good year. Lots of new customers and new inventory. Headaches and growing pains, as expected.
| |
'03 ... I have moved into a 5000 sf warehouse... room for more parts! First built bike in a magazine.
| |
'04 ... the place is almost full - word of mouth and small amounts of advertising seem to be working. \nMaybe I'll get out of debt some day?
| |
'05 ... parts are still rolling in and out .... Jeff and I are building bikes .... the place is full .... and I'm still in debt! Hoping for some TV time, magazine articles ..... something!
| |
'06 ... done with building myself anymore ground-up customs... won awards for the ones completed... some of them made it to magazines... no TV time yet. Aquiring lots of FXR parts for inventory.
